With Season 3 of Netflix’s “Outer Banks” on the horizon, we put together this list of some of the most iconic filming spots of the show around Charleston — along with fun facts + history.
The show, largely filmed in the Lowcountry, follows a group of teenagers from the Outer Banks of North Carolina as they encounter mystery, murder, and treasure. With no release date yet for the new season, we’re taking the edge off while you wait with this treasure hunt, if you will.
We created a map of 11 filming locations around the Lowcountry — heads up, this is not a comprehensive list. Grab your compass + go exploring. |

On Monday, the Charleston team headed to Mexican-inspired taqueria Taco Boy + dug into tacos and frozen cocktails on the colorful patio — which has plenty of picnic tables and lounge seating.
What’s new: The downtown eatery now serves brunch on weekends — we want that scrambled egg + cheese breakfast taco. Now break out the birthday candles — the Folly Beach location recently turned 16. 🎂
Getting there: Visit at 217 Huger St. downtown (pro tip: snag a parking spot in the lot next to the restaurant), 106 E. Ashley Ave. on Folly Beach, and 106 Front St. in Summerville.
