- Summerville’s Flowertown Festival kicks off today through Sun., Oct. 10 and will feature 200+ jury-selected artists, food, activities and rides for children. This annual festival is usually held in the spring, but was pushed due to COVID-19. The 2022 festival vendor applications open next week on Oct. 15. 🌼
Civic
- Charleston County has temporarily stopped taking applications for federal rent assistance to combat the number of applicants from exceeding the funds available. Charleston County has paid out $11.6 million in rent + utility assistance and a spokesman for SC Housing said ~10,000 applications are being reviewed. 🏡(The Post and Courier)

- Middleton Place National Historic Landmark + Coastal Expeditions have partnered to create kayak and boat cruise tours to explore the Historic Ashley River by land and water. - In an effort to provide a permanent + sustainable source of income that supplements dollars raised annually, the Lowcountry Food Bank has established the Lowcountry Food Bank Foundation and Patricia S. - ArtFields — an annual, 9-day art competition + exhibition in Lake City, SC — has issued a call for emerging and established Charleston artists. The submission deadline is Nov. 1 and artists will compete for $100,000 in prizes. 🎨

- Carnival cruises will return on Jan. 13, 2022. The company also announced its plans to return to full fleet sailing from US homeports by next spring. 🛳 (WCSC)
