Here’s what Walmart’s big Lowcountry hub is expected to do:
- Handle goods for 850+ stores
- Create 1,000 jobs
- Bring 77,000+ containers through Charleston per year
Walmart has also earned the title as the first retail importer to establish ground in the industrial campus. This 3 million-sqft distribution center is set to open next year.

Otranto Road Library in North Charleston will officially reopen on Aug. 2 after being closed for a year for a major makeover. The changes are part of a $108.5 million project to renovate Charleston County Public Libraries.
Residents are welcome at the ribbon cutting ceremony which will be held at 9 a.m. at the branch.
The branch has new interior finishes, new shelving, a refreshed collection, new furniture, technology upgrades, and new children + teen areas.
