Can I attend a Charleston City Council meeting?
Yes, all city council meetings are open to the public.
When + where is the next one?
Tonight at 5 p.m. at the Gaillard Center downtown.
Can I attend virtually?
Yes, but virtual registration for tonight’s meeting has closed. In the future, register by noon the day before and access meetings virtually via Zoom or phone.
Is there a dress code? No. You can even dress like Bill Murray at Cannes.

What is tonight’s meeting about?
Tonight’s agenda includes reviewing the Park and Recreation Master Plan for final approval.
Can I speak up?
Yes, but you need to sign up first. You can put your name down to request to speak in person until 5 p.m. today at the Gaillard Center.

- The city will finalize plans next month to develop the vacant lot on Sumar Street in West Ashley. The lot was formerly occupied by Piggly Wiggly, which was demolished ~4 year ago. The current plan is to create offices + an outdoor space for community events. 🐖 (The Post and Courier)

- The Ashley River Park project in Dorchester County has been delayed from later this month to late August or early September — the change in plan is due to issues with soil. (The Post and Courier)
- Smoky Oak Taproom on James Island — which closed in June after 13 years of business — will reopen as Dill’s & Camp Sundries, a Southern breakfast joint. The new concept is expected to open Sept. 1. 🥞 (Charleston City Paper)
- Zeppelin Pizza Co. will open a second location on James Island where Kickin’ Chicken used to be in late September. The new spot will not only be a pizza joint, but also a restaurant with dinner options. 🍕 (Charleston City Paper)
