5Church Charleston to become Church and Union Charleston

Lowcountry restaurant 5Church Charleston will begin the new year with a fresh start, retiring its name on December 31, 2021 and opening as Church and Union Charleston on January 1, 2022. The announcement to expand the restaurant brand to Charleston + Charlotte follows the successful opening of Church and Union in Nashville in September.

The rebrand will include new logos, signage, and menus. A few dishes will be retired from the menu, such as the 5Church Lamb Burger, 60 Second Steak, and the Viper. However, you should still expect to bring your appetite, as new menu items will make their debut.

The CU Burger with mushroom duxelles, truffle cheese, truffle aioli, and hand-cut fries — a staple at Church and Union Nashville — and Anolini with burrata, tomato, basil, and chicken sausage will both appear on the menu. We think we’re in love.

Lucky for us, the iconic hand-painted inscription on the ceiling from Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” by artist Jon Norris + signature five-dollar-bill paintings by artists Matt Hooker and Rodney Rains will remain.
